WEIGH IN #2 148.0lbs 1.7 lbs down 18.3 lbs to go
Monday
Today was our first Nutrition meeting. We discussed women’s nutritional health. She went over calcium and the food guide pyramid. The biggest surprise was that cheese is in the meat group not dairy. Only milk and yogurt is in the dairy group.
Exercise Zumba aerobics class @ YMCA 6:30-7:30. This was a nice class that got my heart going. It is a mix of dance and aerobics. It was hard and quick and made me sweat. It was fun shaking my booty but reminded me how out of shape I am.
Tuesday-
Wednesday-
Exercise: I walked/jogged on the River Bluff Trail pushing the double stroller while my oldest rode his bike. My dad joined us on his bike today. I speed walked for 40 minutes mixing in jogging bursts for a total of 8 minutes. This was difficult. I was sweating, tired, cramping, and just plain out of shape.
Later in the evening, I performed a starter workout DVD for 30 minutes. Mainly cardio and 15 minutes of stretching.
Thursday-
Exercise: I performed a latin dance aerobics DVD for 45 minutes. I also did a 15 minute abs video. I felt the burn and loved shaking my booty.
Friday-
Exercise: I performed another workout DVD. The next step from the starter DVD for 50 minutes. This was very hard and my lovely husband sat and watched. Lol. He also supported me by letting me know I was going slow. My boys were also trying to workout with me. They gave up. I definitely burned many calories.
Saturday-
I decided to take a break today, but I still went for two walks with my boys today. They were both around 20 minutes each.
Sunday-
Today was a busy, busy day. I did a 30 minute workout video.
Hardships: Energy levels changed. Finding time and organizing meals, especially on the go.
Getting Easier: Nothing yet.

Week 1: 6/7/10-6/13/10
Week 1: 6/7/2010-6/13/2010
Monday-
Today I had a Health Assessment at Memorial Hospital. This included a finger prick and cholesterol and sugar check.
RESULTS:
Ht 65 in
Wt 149.0 lbs
BMI 24.8
Blood Pressure 106/70 (<120/80)>45)
LDL Cholesterol 145 (<130)
Chol/HDL ratio 3.6 (<4.0)
Triglycerides 120 (<150)
Gluclose fasting 80 (<100)
When finished, I met with the nutritionist. We discussed my goals. I chose one goal to start with.
I started my program by cutting out candy, cookies, cake, and brownies. I also started watching what I eat. I stopped snacking so much at night. Soooo hard. I was eating candy, ice cream, etc everytime I went to town or the grocery store. I would eat at least three times after my boys went to bed.
I also met with Heidi, one of the trainers available to us, to get my beginning measurements:
Chest –
Waist –
Legs – Lt: Rt:
Arms – Lt: Rt:
Exercise: 5:30-6:30 Yoga @ YMCA (Love Yoga. I always feel great and relaxed after yoga. I will definately do yoga once a week. I love the way I feel and look afterwards plus it’s a great stretch for the long, lean look.)
Tuesday-
Wednesday-
Thursday-
Today I met with Roxanne, one of the trainers, before an aerobics class. She showed me around the weight equipment in the gym. I really like the equipment.
The other mommies and I attended our first group exercise. Beginner Fitness at 7pm. Its instructor is a woman who had lost over 50 lbs. She looks great and has a lot more energy than I do. I haven’t sweat so much in a long time. I am sooo out of shape. I don’t move as quick as I used to and I look goofy doing the aerobics.
Friday-
Saturday-
Today I went for a walk around the block(a country block, about a mile) pushing a double stroller. It takes about 25 minutes.
Sunday-
Today I went for a walk/run without the children. I walked to warm up, then I ran until I couldn’t, speed walked for 100 yards, ran until I couldn’t, walked 100 yards, ran until I couldn’t, and walked to cool down. I sweat like crazy. I am definately out of shape. Jogging is rough on my shins and knees. Someone to run with or music would make it more enjoyable.
Hardships: Not snacking or stopping at Sycamore Ice cream stand or buying a crunch bar.
Getting Easier: Motivation to workout

Welcome to my Blog
I have recently been chosen by my local newspaper to compete in a "Mommy Makeover" Contest. Two other women and myself, all whom have recently had a baby, will be competing to see who can lose the highest percentage of body fat. The winner, I believe, will receive some sort of pampering package, and the ultimate gift, less fat and more energy. We were all given a free YMCA membership, a personal trainer, and classes from a nutrionist. It is a 13 week program and we weigh in weekly. There will also be a weekly article in the local newspaper on Saturdays featuring our progress. In my blog, I will be sharing my experience as well as my contact info and resources. I am very grateful for this experience and hope to encourage other women to begin their weight loss journey.
